I wouldn't ask the city first, I'd ask the neighbors. Try to strike up a conversation about the area and just ask if there is anything they think you should know. Also ask if any other neighbors have been around a long time, whom you could talk to. Once thats done you should know the problems/ concerns fairly well and then you can go talk to the city.

Digital air conditioner not showing temperature?

I just got a used Maytag 6000 btu air conditioner, it's model number M7X06F2D-A i paid $60 for it...and it's digital and has a remote - i went on the A/C and put it down to 66 (lowest it goes) but it's not cooling off my small bedroom....and it's staying at 66....i have a digital A/C in my livingroom and when i put it down to the lowest it goes, it'll automatically after go to the current temperature and then you'll see it going down slowly....like i have it set to 60 (lowest) and it currently is displaying 72....but the one i just got, it's not changing it's just staying at 66...and it's not 66 in my room or else it would be cool, and it's HOT in there.

ok so i have 2 budgie females. 1 baby and 1 adult. my baby is hand trained when i got her and sits on my shoulder and will sometimes eat out of my hand and steps up on my finger. my other one wont do anything but go on my finger and try to bite me and lean back and get away. my baby trained one does it too. but she lets me do all of this. she still bites though and tries to fly away. what im saying is that my trained baby is afraid but not afraid. and when i put budgie noise on they both love it and get all cosy and sleep. they chirp too. btu when its off they are dead silenced and afraid. i cant keep the budgie noises going all day, but i want them to feel comfortable. by the way i have owned them for 2 months. also fresh food and water EVERYDAY!

My sister got pricked with my grandmother's used diabetes needle. It contained traces of the diabetes medicine called "Mixtard". Why do I feel warm and sluggish?

Last night I went to the emergency room because I felt sluggish and my body temperature was extra warm. The palms of my hands were literally on fire as I drove to the emergency room. Along with a horrible headache, the back of my thighs were also sore. The doctors concluded that nothing was wrong with me but I know they are wrong. I'm sleepy every three hours and my body continues to feel sluggish. Point blank, my body is simply tired. I didn't feel this way a week ago and I'm really starting to become scared. I don't know what to do.

Is my cockatiel starting to bond with me?

Sometimes when a cockatiel hisses at u it's because he doesn't San to be disturbed. Also I realized when I got an adopted cockatiel that he didn't like my hand so I assume they used to tease him. Often times my cockatiels(I have 3) will all star to squawk very loudly until I come back. Especially the one I adopted, I didn't let him in with my other 2 until about a month after I got him. Cockatiels are very very social birds and they love attention, if u whistle at him and he whistles back, give him millet and start teaching him that whistling is good. It may take a while I he's anything like the one I adopted, it took 3 months for him to let me take him out of his cage with my bare hand. Even know he sometimes hisses at me. All I can say is give him alot treats, let him know that u are the source to his pleasure. Make sure that his wings are clipped this way, he'll depend on u to take him where he wants to explore. I know all three of my cockatiels love their millet and both the nutriberries with papaya and pineapple and the one I don't have now so I can't tell u the ingredients, but I think it has like blue berries and stuff on it. I use that as treats and also another I don't have right now, but it's a rectangle and it feels like rice crispy squares. They love it, a good thing about those treats is that they have pellets, which is the best thing to give them; so not only is it healthy but they love it. All of these products should be available at your local Petco store. I like shopping there because they have a 15 day guarantee (at least the one I go to does) so if ur bird doesn't like it, you can return it. Again just let ur cockatiel know that u are a source of his pleasure and he'll end up letting u hold him, unless he's in a bad mood. It's been about 5 months since I got my adopted cockatiel and he has gotten alot better. He does sometimes his at me that he doesn't want to leave his cage, but most of the time he's ok. He was already an expert flier when I got him, so now alot of the times when I leave the cage open, he'll startle me and fly on my shoulder and I know that's when he wants a treat or two. Good luck.

okay so this is my story! 2 nights ago i had a late night snack of some artichoke hearts (italian ones, breadcrumbs, vinegrette, whatever else) the next morning i woke up with a crazy stomach ache which included sharp pains every so often, today i still had it but not nearly as bad. its in my upper abdomen sorta on my sides, or up and down the middle. dont really know what it is or if its a sign of pregnancy but i dont have any other early symptoms of pregnancy, plus the beginning of this month i got my period and the last time i had sex was new years (when i had a scare and took plan b so i believe im good) - what could this be? sporadic sharp pains in upper abdomen?

I am on the generic form of the birth control pill and I sleep all the time. I can't stay up past midnight. I have been eating everyday for 3 days I used to eat whatever I wanted then not eat anything til my weight went back down.. on theese three days I ate normally 2 meals each day not crazy fatty stuff either fish 8 oz and broccoli and cauliflower salad and chicken artichoke with strawberry salad and snacked a little because I can't go a without some cheese its. and I look pregnant all the fat is going to my stomach my mom took the battery out of the scale I'm not sure how much it went up but it used to go up like six pounds overnight I tried to take a walk today and my mom would not let me because I think she is scared I will get sick again and tomorrow we will be in the car all day driving home I wanted to know if ill stop gaining it so fast and will I eventually stop gaining weight or keep going till I am ovrweight

11 days late, negative pregnancy test *never been on medication, birth control, or unhealthy?

I'm 29 and this is my first time ever being late for a period. I chart my period and I have a mental vibe when my period will come on. To my surprised it didn't show up! I never been on medication, birth control, never been pregnant, I'm not over weight or under weight, nor am I stressing, no change in diet etc. I'm on a 27 day cycle and my last period was Jun 13. I had sex on the 27/28 when I was very fertile, according to some charts, but it was protected (really) and neither one of us climax because we stopped really early being that I was too tired and sleepy when my s/o wanted to. I have no pregnancy symptoms. I've read many q/a on this topic but many either got off of birth control, on some medications and I was never on any. I was maybe about to die. The last moment of my life were happening. I was dead. I got scared. I changed my mind because i had a little hope that life would get better. I went and told my mom. She got upset and started yelling and cusing me out saying things like "well now you dont have any f*****ing insurance and im going to have to pay to have your stomach pumped" and "why the f*** would you do that, your stupid" also "your going to F***ing die i hope your happy. and if i get you to have your stomach pumped your gonna have to get a da** liver transplant" That went on for hours. I knew there was no hope.. i was getting sleepy. Maybe i would die in my sleep. So i lied and said i only took two. She got even madder. So i locked my self in my room and went to sleep. I didnt go to summer school (yes, summer school because im a failure at everything) because i felt depressed, i didnt eat all day. i just layed there.. and googled suicide of course. Suicide sucks.. sometimes theres no way out. I need out. Last night i felt bad about lying so i told her that i really took ten. I figured she couldnt be too mad. A nurse took my blood without my say so.?

I was wondering if it is Illegal for a nurse to take my blood without my say so? I was forced to go to the hospital because I had a very very bad migraine. The doctor told me what I already new and then sent me out to go sit at the nurses station. the nurse started getting out needles to draw blood on me and I told her no that I didn't know I was having to have my blood drawn and I didn't want to. She said ok and then my bf comes in and him and another nurse holds me down while the other nurse draws my blood. They also put something in my IV that made me so sleepy I couldn't hold my eyes open. I almost feel like I've been violated if you know what I mean and I want to do something about it.

If I drink milk even 3 hours before I go to bed, I'll have nightmares. I don't know why this is. All four pregnancy test including a blood test have come back negative. My doctor states its hormone stress, plus the worries about being pregnant. We have a 4 month old boy and are looking to cut out his 11:00 (evening) feed. What is the best way to do this?

My son is 4 months old and feeds at 7am, 11am, 3pm, 7pm and 11pm. He falls asleep without fail straight after his 7pm feed and is always in his cot by 8pm. So he already has his bedtime. He wake between 4:30am and 5:30 am but not because he is hungry, it just seems to be his morning time. We are currently waking him at 11pm to feed him and he very sleepy during the feed but always finishes his bottle. We are looking at changing the 11:00 feed and wondered what the best way to do it is. I have been told by a friend that they just cut the 11:00 feed out at eventually their baby went from 7-7 without food. My only concern would be is that too long without food and also would that be too much of a change at once for him. The other option I thought of doing was bring the 11pm feed forward to maybe 10:30 for a couple of weeks then maybe 10:00 until we end up cutting out that feed. I'm finding it very confusing and not sure what will be best to do for all of us. The health visit wasn't any help. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Well I just got back from visiting my family in Australia yesterday morning, I had my youngest three with me and my oldest two came home from Australia in early January a few days before they had to go back to school with their father. A dream where the world burnt down, many houses, blah blah blah. I never actually saw the fire. And when I went to different houses to et my stuff there was no remains of fire. But thats what the news said. Me and my friends got a list together where everyone in "the unit" (we used this term in the dream which means the town or something) signed a paper so we knew how many people were here. Me and a lot of my friends ended up at this huge house. with a lot of doors and openings and such. My mom was the only person there and she was taking care of us. The people that were in this house was the guy i like, the guy i really used to like, two guy friends, this girl i don't really talk to, my two brother, and people that were supposed to be my cousins but I never saw them before. My mom was cooking dinner for everyone with one of my other brothers. I specifically noticed she was cutting up artichoke hearts and my brother was cutting up chicken. I asked if they needed help from me or my other brother and my mom said it was fine. I go into this back room, could have been another place. and this guy is sitting eating something like porkchops. And I was like were did you get that and he said I made it (cause he has his own restaurant) and he asked I wanted some. I took some and continued walking into another room where i fall to my knees and i start balling. because it just hit me what has happened to the world. this guy comes up and tries to make me feel better and the whole time the guy i used to like is getting mad because he is talking to me or something. he is just continuously staring the whole time. I'm not sure what happens next but we see this guy pulling up in a white truck. And at this point it was snowing. I stare at him and I notice who he is so i tell my mom, continuing staring I relieze I don't know him and run into the house to get a guy to help. coming back to my mom who was talking to the guy she said he gave us an action figure, which is from a show dexter where in the dream i said what has happened to us happened in the show. I'm not sure what happens next but I am in this car with my mom driving and like five of my "cousins" to go to our house to get some clothes and some supplies. We are driving around to find our house and we see these people outside fighting. but it seems as if the parents were teaching the kids our to fight. as we were watching we see these to girls fighting and the girl beats her up so bad that we drive away, and they were so young like ten or so. We then arrive at this house that I have never seen before but supposidly it was my house that me and my "cousins" lived at. my mom drops us off because she needed to go to her house. as we go inside i go through a different door than one of my cousins. and she can't get in because the door was locked. As I let her in she informs me that it was locked and I didn't see the big deal. and she said "he's in here" (there was a killer going around killing people) and then we turned and we saw him standing there (he looked like the creepy guy from silent hill but instead of the huge thing he drags he was holding huge siccorss.) I just stand there staring and she grabs my arm and makes me run from him. we are sitting in the room on the bed under the covers with the lights off just waiting. I then recieve a text from this guy I know who I don't really talk to anymore and it said "hey i'm in canada (or cuba, something that starts with a c) when do you go back to school (I attend a university)?" but note this whole time i am texting my mom cause i don't want to call her because of the noise. then we hear the guy coming in and he sees us he also bring three of my other "cousins" that he found. and there was this guy that the killer was with and he said "do any of them deserve to stay" and the killer says "no, none of them." and then he stops and looks at me and says "actually one does, Sarah, Sarah deserves to stay because she is the only one who didn't run from me. he makes me hold my arms together and he begins to cut the with the giant siccorss, but only half way because i "deserve" to live. and the blood was everywhere and it hurt so bad. i was squeezing this pillow so i wouldn't bleed out. he then start to cut one of my younger boy "cousin's" arms and he cuts them completely off tells him to lean back his head so he will fall asleep. at somepoint he asks us to put his arm around his neck so he will get blood on it. and that's when i wake up. I remember so many details from this dream that it gets ridicuoulus. and i have no idea what this means. if anyone reads this whole thing will you please help.

Accidentally double dosed my Pain and anxiety medicine!! Advice needed!?

i take 3 Lortab 10/325 a day and three 2 mg klonopin a day. I usually take my first 2 lortab together in the morning because thats when i hurt the most, and the pharmacist said its OK if it take my 1st dose of klonopin with it, that it just may make me sleepy. Well, I slept in today and as usual i fumbled around to go ahead and take my morning dose of both meds when i woke up, but i fell back asleep. When i woke up, i had forgotten that i had already taken 2 lortab and my klonopin, and went ahead and took it, it didnt hit me until 10 mins later than i had double dosed. So in a 4 hour time frame i took 4 lortab 10/325, and two 2 mg klonopin. Will I overdose or will i just be really loopy? lol. kind of freaked out, thanks in advance!!

Window ac unit question?

I just bought a new LG 8,000 btu window ac. Installed it and it seems to work fine so far and cools well. My question is I can see a plate of styrofoam screwed inside behind the blower fan where the cold air comes out and where it borders the outside. Is styrofoam durable for window AC's? My unit came with a 5 yr guarantee. Does it insulate better and hold up ok?

Health question possible migraine or tia?

lastnight I had some alcohol. Never got drunk but did feel really sleepy. Anyways, later on I was up and fine but my heart flutterd (skipped a beat) which produced a short cough. This is common when someones heart skips a beat ...to cough. I had heart trodes placed on my chest years ago as I was concerned as to why my heart skipped a beat now and then. They never found anything. So, lastnight as I said it happened again. I know that alcohol may have caused my heart to skip or flutter. I took noticed but it passed fast. So, today (sunday) I was in my room and started seeing this silvery wavy line in front of my vision. I of course panicked. Soon it went from the silvery lines in my front vision to a kalidescope type vision out of the corner of my eye. When I went to read the small black print on the laptop it was as if this black line stuff was running through my vision. Totally freaked it lasted about oh..... ten minutes? So I was taken to urgent care, but I decided not to go inside because I was feeling better. I did feel a minor headache come on so Im thinking it might of been a kind of migraine. I have never had the vision thing occur like that before that I can remember. The heart beat skip/ flutter might have been due to something other than this? Not sure? Its just they both occured with say 15 hrs of eachother......... maybe 12.

Worried peranoid, while pregnant ?

I am 8 weeks pregnant I found out last week and I was shocked because I also had spotting, and I just thought It was a normal period so when I went to the doctors he told me It was just implantation bleeding that had happened in my 5th and 6th week of pregnancy. I'm not sure on what would happen at your second appointment because I have not been to my appointment yet as my first one is tomorrow morning, but the doctor told me I will most likely have an ultrasound because of the bleeding so they might also give you a ultrasound, or If not just ask for one just to reassure you that everything is fine. What is the best things to feed tots when fresh veggies aren't available?

My store is irritating that every time I go to the store there are less and less vegetables available because we are going through a really bad e.coli outbreak... even the pre-packed salads the only ones left were the wilted ones. So my toddler loves veggies and I don't want to feed her canned stuff with too much sodium but I don't wanna buy gerber because she won't eat it. I have gave her lean cuisines and healthy harvests before and sometimes she'll eat them though she loves spinach artichoke lean pockets, but I'm not really sure even of those which are best for a growing tot.

Why does the cool air coming out of my window unit a/c smell SO bad?

It's a Frigidaire 10,000 btu and is awesome. The MAJOR drawback is the smell of the air coming out of the unit when I turn the temperature up. When I have the unit on its coolest setting, it is perfectly fine, no nasty smell. But if I turn the temp up so that it doesn't blow as cold, the air that comes out STINKS!! I'm talking like the smell of stinky feet or funky cheese. I have tried using a dryer sheet in addition to the filter; but that has no effect. I have sprayed the filter with air freshener and cleaner with no luck. Please help me get rid of this nasty oder!!

How do i make my room air conditioner colder?

Open the fron grate and if there is another filter pull it off. There will be lots of fins like on the back and they may be cloged up. use an old toothbrush to clean it. These fins are what the air passes through and the air is cooled by the cold gasses in the tubes so if it is cloged it wont work properly. If this dosent help its likely its the freon gass in the lines.

they aren't THAT small, they are 20 inches deep and about 18 inches wide. i know its just not wide enough however will i still yield an ok crop? i mean at least i wont have to deal with moles and other critters eating away at their roots...

Confused about window airs?

Ok so here is the deal. I am thinking that instead of buying a industrial van to just buy 2 window airs or one. Ok so I can get two 5,000 btu window airs for 100$ a pieace. Ok so that would mean 200 for the both. And a 10,000BTU is 245$. Ok so now that we got that. Will the two 5,000 btus cool as if I had a 10,000Btu already? Can I estimate the heat output of a device from WATTS?

If I have say, a radio, that uses 60W, can I estimate the heat output? According to what I have read, you multiply WATTS by 3.41 to give BTU/hour. So 60W = 204.6 BTU. But this can't all be output as heat can it? An 60W radio doesn't generate the same heat as a 60W light bulb. So is there any way to estimate heat output from power figures - or do you have to physically test with thermometers etc?

I have a 500 square foot room. I also have swamp cooling (evaporative roof unit). A swamp cooler only gets your house about 15-20 degrees cooler then the outside temperature (ie: daily heat in New Mexico usually is 110 degrees outside = 95 inside). I know that without any cooling at all, I would need 15000 BTU portable air conditioner, but what about in addition to the swamp cooler? I have a fever on and off, extremely sore throat and can barely swallow, very weak and fatigued, I have been throwing up and my stomach is killing me. Dog had an allergic reaction?

My puppy is 5 months and he had an allergic reaction to eating a spider or a bee outside on Friday. We rushed him to the vet and he got blood work and xrays and he told us that it was indeed an allergic reaction and gave him two shots, one that was to work immediately and one that would work for up to 4 days. My OH and I disagree about readily giving our 3 month old medication. I HATE seeing him in any discomfort but like to wait to see exactly what I think the source of the problem is.
