Is it more efficient to run 1 big air conditioner or 2 smaller ones?

2 smaller units will always be more efficient than 1 large unit. With 2 units you can shut those areas off when they are not in use. So if you only use the kitchen unit when you are cooking and shut it off the rest of the day you save power by only cooling the other area of the house and not the kitchen all day.
