How much is too much to plug into an outlet with 2 plugs?

One of my outlets in my room stopped working, so I'm forced to plug everything into two plugs. I have a large air conditioner (it says 14,000 BTU) and a full power strip plugged in w/ 6 things plugged into that (laptop, speakers, 3 lamps, an alarm clock). Is this safe? My roommate thinks Im going to start a fire. I wount be able to call my landlord to fix my outlet til Friday. Thanks!!
